Grammar Practice

Let’s practice Japanese grammar by composing a Japanese sentence after reading an English script!

The goal is to understand the overall sentence patterns for the target grammar by making a sentence over and over. Do Not try too hard to think about the grammatical rules that you learned from a textbook. 

With that in mind, Let’s enjoy learning!

Practice

Try to create a Japanese sentence shortly after reading an English script. If you cannot come up with any words, just look at an answer and try it again later.

1.

These are books.

これらは本（ほんです。

korera wa hon desu.

2.

Those are cherry blossom trees.

あれらは桜（さくらの木（きです。

arera wa sakura no ki desu.

3.

These people are students.

この人（ひとたちは学生（がくせいです。

kono hito tachi wa gakusei desu.

4.

Those people are Japanese.

あの人（ひとたちは日本人（にほんじんです。

ano hito tachi wa nihon-jin desu.

5.

These furnitures are very old.

これらの家具（かぐはとても古（ふるい。

korera no kagu wa totemo furui.

6.

Those trees are very big.

あれらの木（きはとても大（おおきい。

arera no ki wa totemo ookii.

7.

These people are not students.

この人（ひとたちは学生（がくせいではない。

kono hito tachi wa gakusei dewa nai.

8.

Those people are not Japanese.

あの人（ひとたちは日本人（にほんじんではない。

ano hito tachi wa nihon-jin dewa nai.

9.

These books are not good.

これらの本（ほんは良（よくない。

korera no hon wa yoku nai.

10.

Those cars are not Honda.

あれらの車（くるまはホンダではない。

arera no kuruma wa Honda dewa nai.
